Their construction activities extend over most of the Middle East, covering fields in:

Heavy Civil Construction: High Quality Buildings, power plants, bridges, roads and airports and highways, interchanges, harbour and docks, process plants and the petrochemical industry, Pipelines for water, gas and oil.

Mechanical Construction: fabrication and installation of piping, erection of equipment and vessels, structural steel works for light industry and heavy mechanical works (refineries, petrochemical plants, gas oil separation plants, oil loading and off loading terminals).

Scope • The Weight Engineer shall be responsible for coordinating/compiling the Weight & COG input from different disciplines and issuing the weight engineering report of marine structures, required for the design and safe execution of marine operations.
Responsibilities • Establishing that welding procedures are available at shop floor, have been approved as required and are being employed in welding production.
• Witnessing of welder and procedure approval tests, where necessary.
• Verifying that adequate and valid welder approvals are available and that only approved welders are used in production.
• Performing visual inspection of welds including:
- Verifying parent material identity
- Verifying correctness of welding consumables
- Verification that dimensions, fit-up and weld preparations are in accordance with WPS' and drawings
- In-process welding surveillance to verify compliance with specified procedure including any preheat, interpass temperature control and post heat requirements
• Completing and endorsing all inspection records from initial inspection till final acceptance of the weldments.
- Maintaining interface with the Client (at the shop level) to ensure that all contractual and code requirements are met as far as the inspection scope is concerned.
Requirements • Candidates should have at least 3 years relevant experience and be in possession of valid AWS or CSWIP qualifications.
• Those who do not have the required AWS/CSWIP qualification, will be considered, however they should have the right experience coupled with a diploma in welding technology or mechanical engineering.
